To do the same

Posted: February 17, 2011 in Poetry

Hearts awaken, souls are shaken,
Nothing seems the same;
Hurt arises, self despises,
Spirit’s broken, maim’d.

Sadness grows, inside it shows
Two hearts are bound with chain;
Against the clock our scuffles mock
The truth that keeps us sane.

He speaks of love borne from above
Canvassing like rain
That washes clean with summer steam
That sleight which causes shame.

Among the stars, ever oh so far,
Fling transgressions of this swain
Away with fear to draw you near––
Redemption is my gain.

The blazing blue above the brew
Sings of the glorious reign;
When hope’s alive man can derive
Ransom’d judgment’s bane,

And when the sun begins to run
Abiding ev’ry flame,
No more hearts weep, nor souls do sleep,
For freedom’s in this frame:

When dreary eyes greet burning skies
And the last of light doth wane,
True Love endures, forgiveness cures
And wipes away the pain.

Though all was lost He paid the cost,
The life He gave was slain;
He chose to give that we might live
Our lives to do the same.
